Aziz Zoundi

Aziz Zoundi was born in 1993 in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. He holds a diploma in contemporary dance from the Centre de Développement Chorégraphique CDC La-Termitière in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso ( 2010-2012 and 2015-2017). Over the years, he has worked on his skills by attending numerous workshops in vocal techniques, stage design, acting and photography with, among others, Salia Sanou, Serge Aimé Coulibaly, Odile Sankara, Irène Tassembedo and Olivier Tarpaga. He also received a training in pedagogy of dance at the Ecole des Sables in Senegal and the Centre de Développement Chorégraphique CDC La-Termitière in Burkina Faso. Continuing his quest for excellence, Zoundi danced in the piece When Birds Rufused To Fly by the Baker And Tarpaga Dance Project company, with whom he toured America and Europe in 2015-2019. In 2024, he was part of the cast of the reprise of Pina Bausch's The Rite of Spring, produced by the Pina Bausch Foundation, Sadler's Wells (London) and École des Sables (Toubab Dialaw, Senegal). The piece has toured the world. Parallel to his dance career, Aziz Zoundi works as a dance teacher with children and young adults in Burkina Faso and Benin.
